Datchet XC - Sunday 12th November

Here are the details for the Datchet Cross Country:

Date: Sunday 12th November 2023
Time: 11:02
Place: The Brocas, Eton. Nearest postcode is SL4 6BW (Waterman's Arms)

Please note that there is no parking at the venue and very limited parking in Eton, so we strongly recommend car sharing where possible and using the various pay & display car parks in Windsor. Walk across the bridge to Eton, then immediately turn left to find The Brocas.

The official council web site for the local car parks is here.

We will be holding the Remembrance Day 2 minute silence at 11 am, immediately before the race start.

The course is flat & fast and approximately 10km. It starts with 2 laps round The Brocas to spread the field before going out onto The Thames Path up to Boveney, and then a meander back to The Brocas with some lovely views of the castle. It is a mix of grass, compacted gravel & tarmac, so it is not suitable for spikes. It is usually a good surface, but unless we have sun for the next week you can expect some muddy areas this year as some stretches are currently very wet.

A map of the race route can be found here.

Finishing disks will be handed out to all finishers - please return these disks to your club reps.

Food & drink will be served at the finish - please remember to bring your own plate & mug.

There will be portable toilets available on site, but please also make use of the various public toilets in Windsor & Eton.
Please do not use the bushes on The Brocas - there are certain local residents who actively look for it to happen so they can report it to Eton College.

Good luck to everybody for the race.

Bracknell Forest Runners - Sunday 22nd October 11am start

Bracknell Forest Runners are delighted to host the 2nd TVXC event of the 2023/24 Season at our regular venue:

Lightwater Country Park
The Avenue
Lightwater
GU18 5RG

First of all, we rely heavily on runners parking in residential areas so PLEASE CAN ALL RUNNERS CAR SHARE to minimise the number of vehicles on the day and ensure that you park considerately and respectfully of local residents - failure to do so will jeopardise the future running of our event.

As in previous years, we would strongly urge runners to plan to park in Bagshot around Whitmoor road – HOWEVER the footbridge has been closed this month by Surrey Highways agency as it has been deemed unsafe so you will need to walk round and over the motorway – please allow 45 minutes walk for this. There is footpath all the way and pedestrian crossings at all points where road crossings are required. the what3words reference for the cut through from whitmoor road to the path over is bloodshot.oasis.occupiers.

There is parking also available on residential streets on the lightwater side of the motorway (Badger Drive, Mount pleasant and Aplin way) but this is limited – we would strongly recommend you plan enough time to park the other side of the motorway as if there is no space in lightwater and you then have to go back over you may not be in time for the start.

Parking is available but extremely limited at the Country Park we do not have exclusive use of the parking facilities as the park is open to the public and – please DO NOT park in the leisure centre car park – only the country park car park.

We have paid for use of the toilets by the all weather pitches at the Leisure centre again this year – they can be accessed by the OUTSIDE entrance only and the café at the leisure centre will be open from 8am if any needs a hot drink before the race.

The start itself is 5 minutes walk from the team camp/finish area at the footbridge so please allow enough time to drop your stuff and get to the start in time. What3words for the start line is: taxpayers.overtones.direct

Post Race refreshments will as usual be located next to the finish line to allow you to enjoy a cup of tea and something from our fabulous spread whilst you cheer in the rest of your team – please ensure that you bring a cup and a plate as we will not be providing and single use items. What3words for the finish/team camp area is: spurted.overture.symphony

The course is two laps of paths and trails around the country park and is not suitable for spikes – it is unchanged from previous few years years and is approximately 5.8 miles (9.3km) long

Our first event of the season is taking place on the 8th October.

Please note that this event will start at 4pm, and as well due to the council we are not able to use the car park at Hillingdon Sports Complex until 3pm - the complex is also closing early so we need to vacate the premises between 6pm and 6.30pm.

re parking - we have access to the left hand car park of the Hillingdon Athletics Stadium. You will be directed by 2 marshals when you arrive.

In the event of the car park being full, Please do not park on / in the grounds of the Uxbridge Cricket Club or the LIDO car park or the spaces of the lower grounds adjacent to the stadium - the latter will result in parking fines as many received last year.
