Handy Cross TVXC Event - Sunday 2nd December

Handy Cross Runners is pleased to welcome you to our cross country race in Bradenham Woods by kind permission of the National Trust.

From junction 4 on the M40 take the A4010 signposted towards Aylesbury. You will cross 4 roundabouts until you come to a T junction on the A40. Turn left along the A40 still following signs to Aylesbury. At the next roundabout take the second exit signposted Aylesbury on the A4010. After about 1 mile you will go under a railway bridge and after another mile you will go past the Red Lion pub on the corner of Bradenham Woods Lane continue along the A4010 for another half mile until you see a track on the right, follow this track up and marshals will direct you to park in the field. The post code for the Red Lion is HP14 4HF which is probably the nearest property to the parking area. Car parking is in the field by kind permission of the local farmer. There will be a nominal charge of £1 which is given to the farmer.

Start / Finish

From the car park the finish can be found to the other side of the hedge together with toilets should you need it. Any kit can be left at the finish area. The start is about 400m further up the access road and is about a 10 minute walk, so please ensure you leave enough time to get to the start.

Race Administration

We will be using discs again this year. Please ensure that you record each of your runners finishing position on your sheets and return the discs to us with the completed sheets. The course is suitable for spikes.

Sandhurst Joggers TVXC Event - 25th November 2018

After a successful cross country at a new venue last year, we are back at Lord Wandsworth Collage (http://www.lordwandsworth.org/).

It will be almost (but not exactly) the same as last year's - total 5.4 miles (8.7 Km).

1) Please be aware that there is a chance of deep mud, rough terrain and many exposed roots standing proud of the paths - serious trip-hazards - in places. It is a two lap course which goes through woods and farm land. It is not suitable for spikes but will be muddy and hilly!!

2) Car parking is limited; so please will all runners car share wherever possible.

3) And finally the postcode for the entrance to the race venue, Lord Wandsworth College, is not the college's promulgated postcode, but is RG29 1TA - look for a very smart gateway close to the Four Horseshoes pub, then follow the signs.

Car parking will be well signposted and is a little bit of walk from the venue (10 mins maximum). Once you have got to the school please follow sign posts to Sutton Hall where there will be access to toilets and changing areas. We will also retire here for food and tea afterwards. You will not be allowed to wear shoes inside Sutton hall so please (just like we do at Tadley) be prepared to take off your shoes and DO NOT give any of our marshals grief.

We look forward to welcoming you to our event!

Datchet Dashers Cross Country - Sunday 11th November

Time: 11:02 (after the two minutes silence) We shall hold the silence on the start line with the Exhortation:

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them."

Response: "We will remember them."

Place: The Brocas, Eton. Nearest postcode is SL4 6BW (Waterman's Arms). This year the start and finish will again be at the far end of The Brocas to try and avoid conflict with the swans and residents! It worked last year.

Please note that there is no parking at the venue and very limited parking in Eton. You can park near our clubhouse (Home Park) and walk through to The Brocas or you can use the local car parks - the parking beyond the club house is free on Sundays but please be courteous of other park users. If the rugby is playing a home game it can get very busy and difficult to find spaces.

Following several rather irate complaints from residents we will be providing toilets for the race. Please make use of these or the nearby public toilets (Home Park, Alexandra Gardens) rather than doing anything in public which may jeopardise the future of the race at this venue.

The course is not suitable for spikes.

Finishing disks will be handed out to the finishers. Please return these disks to your club rep.

Have fun.

TVXC Race 2 - TVT - Sunday 21st October - Eversley/Bramshill Common

After a fallow year TVT are delighted to confirm the return of our XC league fixture on Sunday 21st October, 11:00 race start

The race venue and parking is at St Neots School, St Neots Road, Eversley nr Hook, RG27 0PN (off the A327 in Eversley). Parking is in the school. Please lift share wherever possible and take guidance from the car park marshals to ensure we can maximise the car parking space.

We will once again be running the course on Bramshill Common Wood courtesy of the Forestry Commission. The race start is a 10-15 minute walk through the school grounds, across Bramshill Road (take care when crossing) and passed the barrier entry in to the woods. Marshals and signage will direct you to the start point which is the best place for teams to set up camp on the field there. As always we ask that all runners show courtesy to all other users of the common as without the Forestry Commission approval and the support of the local communities we would not be able to run this event. The course is a single lap, approximately 9km with a mixed terrain of forestry paths and trails. Some of the trails are compact and therefore spikes are not recommended.

Race packs can be collected at the race start from the TVT marshals at the start/finish line. Please return your score sheets, finish discs and money to the marshals at the finish line or to the TVT reps in the refreshment area. Refreshments will be served back at the school in the dining hall (adjoining the cricket pitch). Remember to bring your own reusable cups for water and hot drinks. No dirty shoes in the dining hall please. Portable toilets will be available in the school grounds.

Most importunately enjoy the race, look after the venue please as we want come back and good luck to all running on the day.

TVXC - Reduction of Single-Use Plastic

Hi Team

As we head towards the TVXC season, we as a league are working to support the reduction in disposal of single-use plastic, and plastic lined paper cups (that are highly un-recyclable)

We ask you please for the TVXC events this year that you bring a reusable cup/mug for water, tea and coffee, to avoid the ~1000 cups that are currently thrown away each event.

Host clubs will not provide single-use cups at the events

Your individual clubs will be communicating this also - But more communication is always better than less!

The nearest exit from the A40 is Swakleys roundabout, either the first exit and then first right down Warren Road, and there is a footpath over the A40 to Hillingdon House Farm Fields. The other option is the third exit off Swakleys roundabout (B483) there is a turn off to the left to the Stadium or going down Honeycroft Hill and parking around in the surrounding road, North Way is the way to the start, but there is no where to park along that road, where is also a way into the field from Sweetcroft Lane. There are also car parks in Uxbridge if you do not mind about a 20 minute walk.

This is a new two lap course.

The course is suitable for spikes.
Please remove muddy footwear before entering the Stadium.
